Squeaky Clean Bath & Beauty

A vegan and gluten-free bath & beauty company, Squeaky Clean Bath & Beauty creates handmade products made with essential oil blends at affordable price such as stock lotions, bath salts, acne treatment, and seasonal products. You can find their products at Etsy shop, which is based in Woodstock, Georgia.

I had the opportunity to try few of their newest products in the making: itch relief spray, toner, and body mist, especially their mosquito repellent which is a must for my travels throughout Asia. Jennifer, the fabulous owner of Squeaky Clean Bath & Beauty created a blend for my combination skin for the toner, and a specialized blend of my favourite essential oils for the body mist (I am a floral & fruity type).

My Verdict for Squeaky Clean:
Mosquito Repellent

Squeaky Clean

Taken at Friendship Beach, Phuket, Thailand

This is a natural mosquito repellent, without the use of harmful ingredients such as DEET, but with a blend of essential oils. This repellent is safe to use on children, infants, and even individuals with sensitive skin. Here’s the story. I had a nasty relationship with mosquito bites only in Asia (that also counts for Mexico): my bites would appear swollen for 2-3 days, larger than a ping pong ball, and bruised for months. On my first day in Phuket, I had nearly 10 mosquito bites all over my legs and back after being out for only 15 minutes. Sad first day, innit?

I regretted for not trying Squeaky Clean on my first day because this is a very effective natural mosquito repellent. I loved the fact that it didn’t smell very strong (i.e., strong lemongrass), but very mellow and sweet due to the orange and cinnamon essential oils. My clothes weren’t stained by the spray which was the good part (even the clothes I adored). It was a simple looking spray bottle (and big size), but when you are about 75% done, it gets harder to spray, you may need to remove the cap and rub against your skin manually. It took me nearly a month to finish, where I had to use it everyday. I sprayed all over my legs about 2-3 times a day (before I go out, and after I shower) and so far, I had no mosquito bites. There was one occasion when I did not spray the back of my legs, and I was defeated quickly by the mosquitoes.

I would love to see a travel size mosquito repellent someday, perhaps in a different packaging (much more rigid) since travel can be messy.

My Verdict for Squeaky Clean:
Toner for Combination Skin

Squeaky Clean

Jennifer from Squeaky Clean can create a blend for acne prone skin, combination skin, dry skin, mature/sensitive skin, oily skin, or for particular skin issues (eczema, psoriasis, etc) for the toner. I have combination skin. I did not have any reaction with the toner. It contains no harsh chemicals, and is affordable than a store-bought toner. It didn’t really provide the firming effect I wanted, but it worked as a cleanser by removing residual dirt (leftover makeup) on my skin, naturally. It does not have a strong fragrance. There wasn’t a written instruction on the toner. I soaked it with cotton pad and wiped my face gently, and let it dry completely.

★ INGREDIENTS: (4 oz / 118 mL) water, witch hazel, potassium sorbate, aloe vera, polysorbate 20, sandalwood essential oil, ylang ylang essential oil

My Verdict for Squeaky Clean:
Itch Relief Spray

Squeaky Clean

The itch relief spray is intended for any bug bites, itches and any sensitive skin. It is made with a blend of herbs and essential oils and is gluten-free & vegan. When I had my mosquito bite, I sprayed toward the swollen area and it got a bit messy since it is liquid-based. The itch relief soothed my swollen bite temporarily, but I got itchy after few hours. After couple of uses, the exterior of the bottle dried up with white residues probably due to the baking soda. If I am looking for a vegan-friendly itch relief product, I would probably stick with something solid or thick (perhaps a balm or lotion), rather than liquid. There were some areas that are impossible to spray at (i.e., my lower back).

★ INGREDIENTS: (4 oz / 118 mL) water, witch hazel, baking soda, chamomile, aloe vera, potassium sorbate, polysorbate 20, tea tree oil

My Verdict for Squeaky Clean:
Garden Party Body Mist

Squeaky Clean

The body mist can be customised with the choice of your favourite essential oils blend or by floral, fruity or musky scents. I am more of a floral and fruity type. I was sent a floral body mist, the “Garden Party” . The smell was not overwhelming or too strong, but very soft. I used it for anything, as a perfume, body mist, or even around the apartment. I could smell the rose essential oil very well. The smell did not last very long, only for a brief moment.

★ INGREDIENTS: (4 oz / 118 mL) water, witch hazel, glycerin, potassium sorbate, polysorbate 20, rose essential oil, lavender essential oil, lilac essential oil
