On August 23, 2009 (about 2 years ago), we went on a long train ride to Eberswalderstraße U-Bahn stop, and it was about 10 minutes walk to the flea market at Mauerpark. It was very busy market, filled with hippies and weird people! The location of that food cart was difficult, you just have to find the green sign that said “Sun Day Burgers” and it could be in the back of the flea market.
We had a €3,50 vegan tofu steak burger (good, spicy though) at Sun Day Burgers food cart and an €1 vegan sorbet (strawberry) in an ice cream cone at Bio Eis. It was formerly known as “Tiki Sun Burgers”, but I think they changed their name to Sun Day Burgers at this time.

I was the first person that introduced this Hammurabi Falafel food cart on Happy Cow’s Berlin in 2009 because it’s not easy to find if you are not from or living in Charlottenburg of Berlin (considered as the affluent residential community), but it was within a few minutes walk from the nicer flat I stayed in August 2009 (two years ago). Since I found it two years ago, I heard it might be in the same area at Wochenmarkt Karl – August – Platz.
Order any falafel wrap with mango chutney or sesame sauce, and you get one free cup of tea with fresh mint for only €2.50. The exterior of the falafel was crispy and perfect while the inner part was not too dense or gooey, but perfect with yummy herbs, which makes the wrap taste orgasmic with fresh vegetables (tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and lettuces.) The sesame sauce is very good, not too creamy, and it goes well with it. The mango chutney is an unique bizarre sauce where its exotic taste combines well with the falafel. I would recommend either sauce. If someone likes spicy, then choose mango chutney (it’s not really spicy for my standard, since I’m not too fond of spicy foods.) If someone likes really mild, simple sauce, then pick sesame sauce!
MIAM! Please go there, I love it!

For those who are interested in reading my other old blog focusing on vegan cuisine and groceries as well as culture in Malaysia (primarily Kuala Lumpur), please go to this blog called, “Rice is Nice.” My sweetheart and I ran this blog from March to June 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and it was our first time there.
I believe this blog will help vegans, vegetarians and even omnivores who are visiting or starting to move to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in terms of foods. If you have any questions, issues or inquiries regarding Malaysia, feel free to email me at veganmiam (at) gmail.com.
Honest Viewpoint toward Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Seriously, you cannot get anything better than out of this country. For instance, if you just had a vegan cuisine involving mock meat somewhere in the U.S. or Europe or elsewhere, that’s not even better. You need to go to Kuala Lumpur and taste the authentic difference.

Naschmarkt Stand 560
1060 Wien, Austria
It was our first time trying Dr. Falafel since it was listed in Google Maps as vegetarian and of course, “falafel.” It was a bit difficult finding that place in Naschmarkt, which was one of Vienna’s largest and popular markets at the Wienzeile over the Wien River. Naschmarkt is known for its fresh produce, exotic herbs, cheese, baked goods, meats, and seafood (yes, stinks as fish). I just had a falafel sandwich which was worth €3.
Pros: Fast customer service. Great salad selections for falafel sandwiches. Falafel are average, at least not dry or wet, but just good. Decent size (not too big, but small). Vegetarian-friendly.
Cons: Too difficult to find especially if it’s not in a specific location, but within Naschmarkt. Not much hummous or tahini sauce in the sandwich at all. It will be really good with more tahini sauce in it
It’s better to go early before tourists come, otherwise this restaurant will be packed and you may have difficulty ordering upfront.

A food cart based in SE Portland offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian burgers using Dave’s Killer bread and Daiya cheese. It was my first time to try Off-the-Griddle foods. To make it brief, I’ve listed pros and cons as shown below:
Pros: Colourful food cart and friendly staff. Great customer service. Lovely bread selections and use of Daiya cheese. Good portion sizes.
Cons: Didn’t like the house-made vegan blue cheese sauce (it sounded very good in wording) because it made the burger soggy thus I tasted the tofu still, but no flavour still. I personally like seitan or dry patties on burgers, but their burgers have moist/rice-like patties. Buffalo cheeze fries are average (a bit greasy for my taste, but everyone’s opinion is different), maybe I should have tried the curly fries since they are more unique.
