In starting September, we went to check Vegi Voodoo King in Stuttgart, which was mentioned in Happy Cow Stuttgart and some Flickr posts on vegan falafel wrap. It was 30-minute walk from Mittlerer Schloßgarten. Please view my other post on Stuttgart groceries.
Vegi Voodoo King
Steinstraße 13
Stuttgart Germany 70173
Rating: 1 out of 5 stars (Poor)
It was easy to look out for “Vegi Voodoo King”, which reminded me of VooDoo donuts in Portland, Oregon, but I was in Stuttgart, not Portland. It was a huge orange sign and the setting was mostly outdoor. I did not like the skinny lady (who worked there), because due to the loud, banging background music, she did not listen to our orders very well and had to repeat three times what we already had said. It happened to the next customer (a respected female scholar in her late 30s) after us, and the next customer after that which was also noticeable. That’s not a great customer service, plus with that loud banging music, how the hell can you take these customers’ orders carefully? This is awful though.
Awful setting, awful background music and awful front person

Regardless of the weird lady and the banging background music, we tried two different wraps.

The wraps tasted really dry or not fresh. I’m not sure what’s all about, but I had better wraps/bread for falafel somewhere else i.e., Vegan Döner in München. But I did not like the wrap unfortunately.
The sesame dressing was too runny and it felt like I was eating watery sesame dressing. Veggies are awful, cheap and bland. Falafel balls are so-so, but over-fried.
For the mango-chutney wrap , it tasted like mango jam, but not chutney, which was weird. We did not like the falafel wraps in the end and it was a bit of disappointment in our vegan dining in Stuttgart. I am definitely not going back there again, especially for its loud, rude and awful background music. What kind of music is that during a lovely sunny day? Hey, I have love for club music, but hey, not in that fucking vegan restaurant on a beautiful sunny day where you can’t converse with your folks and loved ones plus communication with the vegan kitchen staff.

TO make up for the awful dining in Stuttgart, it was actually interesting to walk around in Stuttgart at night.

I was in Stuttgart, Germany in starting September for two nights, about 2,5 hour ride via ICE train from München. I find the city a bit different than the German cities (Berlin, München, Hamburg, etc): it was actually a calming city for me to see despite being the sixth largest city in Germany.

Sadly Stuttgart, Germany does not have a lot of vegan restaurants in the centre (one of them was a bit faraway which require a 30-minute train to get on), but surprisingly their groceries are packed with vegan products.
For breakfast, I would have Alpro Soya strawberry soymilk and organic fruit muesli with Provamel green lime yogurt. It definitely fills us up completely for the morning.
You can get these below products at the specific groceries, but hey it’s worth a long walk, great for your legs and saves you shitload taxi fares:
1. Alnatura off Tübinger Straße 31, about 30 minutes walk from Mittlerer Schloßgarten.
2. Basic Bio off Breitscheidstraße 6, about 30 minutes walk from Mittlerer Schloßgarten.
For snack or midnight snack, I get addicted to these Wheaty sausages. It was a German brand and I like the fact that these don’t have soy in it. The flavour was amazing, and I wish I can bring them back to the U.S. or anywhere I am. They have different kinds: Kür-Biss, Chorizo, Pyrossi, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Hanf (with hemp). My favourite ones are Hanf and Chorizo. All of them bombed with yummy flavours. I would get hundreds of them if possible. I think each Wheaty costs about €1,19, except for the fat one (70g / Red Chili Hot Peppers) about €1,89. I’m not sure, but I’m sure small ones are below €1,50 for sure at the German organic/bio stores.
You can get these varieties at Basic Bio off Breitscheidstraße 6, about 30 minutes walk from Mittlerer Schloßgarten. I can’t believe I finally found my favourite German snacks!

For guilty snack or junk food , I really love REWE potato chips from Switzerland. There’s something about these potatoes: fresh and unique. REWE is one of the most common groceries that you can find in Stuttgart, perhaps other German cities, too. They even make their own store brands and I really like their logo concept. It does stand out and all of their products are white. Click here to look for nearby REWE grocery locations in Stuttgart. Also at REWE, they have a small bread section for fresh pretzels (with ingredients in German), some of them can be vegan. Just watch out for dairy, butter or lard in German.
Some vegan products I’ve found at REWE:
For dessert , I know it is difficult without a main course in Stuttgart. But I had plenty of snacking from the groceries, which filled me up. I found an Italian vegan brand, “Valsoia” which I remembered having it in Roma, Italy. You cannot find that in Austria at all, which disappoints me because that was one good frozen ice cream cone ever.
1. Where I found it? At “Edeka.” Address: Gaisburgstraße 2-4a, Stuttgart. I don’t think you can find these products at REWE or the organic groceries in Stuttgart, only at Edeka unfortunately.

You can view my posts on the restaurants I’ve ate in München, but in this post, it will be about grocery products. Most of the groceries even the common ones carry vegan meat products (which was impressive compared to Austria), and of course the non-gelatin, but vegan salty licorice. So Swedish!
