Beauty Product Review: Lime Crime Nail Polishes

Lime Crime nail polish

All of Lime Crime products are vegan, never tested on animals, except for the eyeshadow primer that is undergoing vegan reformulation and currently sold out as of Summer 2012. Basically, Lime Crime will be 100% vegan, rather than 99% anytime soon! As I tried Lime Crime, it became my favourite makeup line due to loads of bright, individualistic, pastel colours. When trying on Lime Crime, I feel like an unique unicorn, knowing that the makeup I wear on my face, shows confidence and uniqueness! My attraction for vivid and unique colours is never-ending, and I was delighted to see these bright colours in a vegan makeup line. Absolutely delighted!

I will be reviewing the products as photographed above one at a time. Let’s start with Lime Crime’s fabulous pastel-shaded nail polishes.

As for nails, Lime Crime currently carry 100 % VEGAN nail polishes that can be seen here.

I will be reviewing three nail polishes in three different colours: LAVENDAIRY Pastel Purple Lilac, CREMA DE LIMON Pastel Yellow and PASTELCHIO Pastel Lime Green Chartreuse . “There are seven pastel shades, inspired by confectionery delights from Marie Antoinette’s table. Pigmented crème formula is rich, smooth and opaque in just two coats. Each bottle comes equipped with a flat, wide brush for superb control and flawless application” (Nails, Lime Crime). Due to shipping restrictions, nail polish products can be shipped to Continental U.S.

My Verdict for Lime Crime:
PASTELCHIO Pastel Lime Green Chartreuse Nail Polish

Lime CrimeMy partner stated that my nails reminded him of a tennis ball colour, which was true, because from a guy’s perspective without any knowledge in nail polishes or makeup, the colour did resemble a tennis ball colour. My first colour impression was just a bright, neon green. I applied about 3 coats which shows more vividness and colour. It took about 15-20 minutes to dry completely after few coats, and the nail polish has sort of a wicked matte look. You will need to shake the nail polish gently, because there may be sections when not used for awhile. Lime Crime nail polish acts like a regular nail polish, but vegan and cruelty-free, as long as you let it dry for at least 15 – 20 minutes. The name, “Pastelchio” is genius, it reminds me of a bright pistachio nut. The name for each nail polish makes me want to consume it right away!
★ TIPS:
Apply polish over clean nails, let dry and apply a second coat. Finish with top coat of your choice. This collection is designed for mix-and-matching!
★ INGREDIENTS: (9 ml/0.3 oz) 3-FREE | Ethyl Acetate, Butyl Acetate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Nitrocellulose, Adipic Acid/Neopentyl Glycol/Trimellitic Anhydride Copolymer, Trimethyl Pentanyl Diisobutyrate, Triphenyl Phosphate, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Diacetone Alcohol, Citric Acid, Benzophenone-1 (+/-) Aluminum Powder (CI 77000), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Oxides (CI 77499 / CI 77491), Red 34 Lake(CI 15880), Red 6 Lake (CI 15850), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Blue 1 (CI 42090), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Yellow 11 (CI 47000), Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Violet 2 (CI 60725).

As you can see, I fell in love with photographing my Lime Crime nail polish. Sorry for my “messy” coating (was a quick snap).

My Verdict for Lime Crime:
CREMA DE LIMON Pastel Yellow Nail Polish

Lime CrimeThe name “Crema de Limon” makes me think of a sweet lemon cream tart, something pastel with sweet tones. The colour appears as a very pastel yellow colour, not too bright as a neon yellow, but maybe in a vintage mode. It reminded me of Easter Skittles or perhaps some bright yellow pastries. I preferred 3 coats, to show more colour and vividness, indeed it will take longer to dry, up to 15 – 20 minutes. As soon as I tried each nail polish, I realised that they present a rather matte look and feel, which is pretty cool, but with a faint shiny look.

Apply polish over clean nails, let dry and apply a second coat. Finish with top coat of your choice. This collection is designed for mix-and-matching!

My Verdict for Lime Crime:
LAVENDAIRY Pastel Purple Lilac Nail Polish

Lime CrimeWhat a beautiful, pastel lilac colour. This is my first time to have a pastel purplish nail polish. I never grew up around purple nail polish for some reason and purple was my least favourite colour. However, Lime Crime’s LAVENDAIRY Pastel Purple Lilac colour turned me on with the vivid, bright, and unique purple colour. My nails looked candy-fantatsic, again I applied three coatings, which was a perfect look!
