Ellovi Body Butter Review + Giveaway (Closed)

Winter is already here…or if you are like me and never miss a chance to use a Game of Thrones line, Winter is Coming! The dryness associated with the cold, biting wind of winter can wreak havoc on your skin, so the timing of this sample sent from the founder at Ellovi was perfect for me. Ellovi Body Butter is a vegan, all-purpose moisturizer hand-crafted using just six ingredients and free from preservatives, parabens, harsh chemicals, water or additives. This cruelty-free product is crafted using macadamia nut butter, coconut oil, hemp seed butter, marula oil (extracted from the seed kernels of the Marula tree,), shea butter, and organic corn starch (non-GMO). The ingredients sound too good enough to consume, almost sound like a spread on a vegan cinnamon toast.

Ellovi Butter

We believe you should feed your skin the most pure and nutritional ingredients on the planet. That’s why we created Butter. -Ellovi

Made in California, Ellovi was born to disrupt a beauty industry ruled by products laden with artificial ingredients and cheap fillers. Founder Kelly Winterhalter and Co-Founder Ryan Pamplin are passionate about crafting pure and nutritional skincare products from plants. They believe that what you put on your skin goes more than skin deep. Which is they are committed to keeping their products free of anything that doesn’t come straight from nature. They created Butter because other body butters and moisturizers are full of unnecessary chemicals, parabens, and preservatives created in science labs. Your skin is like one giant sponge, so you’ve got to protect it from soaking in the bad stuff. Read more about Ellovi here.

Ellovi Butter

the verdict

Based on my experience with the Ellovi Body Butter, here is a brief summary of my pros and cons. First off, the pros.

• They come in eco-friendly, wildly harvested, reusable glass jars with elegantly gorgeous black lids.
• Just six pure ingredients! It doesn’t contain animal products, preservatives, parabens, harsh chemicals, water or additives and also it’s cruelty-free.
• The creamy light ivory-colored ‘butter’ melts into sensitive skin without a greasy or harsh finish. The natural aroma of the product is mildly sweet and nutty with a slight coconut scent, plus it’s fragrance-free and perfect for someone doesn’t like scents and/or allergic to fragrance.
• It works great as a body moisturizer, makeup remover and/or even a quick makeup primer.

• The lid closes securely but could provide a slightly better seal. If you twist the lid too far, it will come back off again.
• While I appreciate the fragrance-free scent, I would also love if they also offer a natural floral scent option. My favorite scent is Lemon Verbena.
• While I love this product for my hands, feet and body, I likely won’t use it on my face because it is a bit too rich for my combination skin (dry cheeks/nose and oily T-zone).

The winter wind is brutal on skin. Plus, we live on a well, and so the water is very drying. My skin can use all of the help it can get! This body butter sounds terrific.

I have very dry skin, and this sounds great. I sometimes buy a locally made body butter at the Farmers Market. My favorite scent is lemon verbena, too, especially in the warmer months.

It gets pretty dry around here in Kansas. I in the process of switching out all my old stuff for new compassionate vegan products, this sounds like it would be a great addition.

I’m always slathering something on, but it never seems to sufficiently combat the winter dryness. I’m a vanilla or lavendar fan, but unscented is the way to go so you can perfume yourself after.

i prefer mild vanilla flavor body butter but not on my face.

Because my face has the texture of stucco walls right now and needs the moisture >_<

What a nice giveaway! I also like a light scent sometimes. Right now, a coconut scent would be lovely to remind me of a beautiful beach as I am currently surrounded by snow!

    Happy Holidays!

My skin gets SO dry in the winter. I wash my hands all the time, so I hate that I have to keep reapplying lotions…it’s so annoying :( I do try to lather some body butter onto my poor hands at night though. Trader Joe’s has a great Coconut Oil Shea Butter…but this looks really good too.

My skin has been really dry lately too since the Canadian cold weather hit so I am always looking for new hand lotions or body butters. This body butter sounds great, good luck to those that qualify :)

This sounds positively luxurious! I go through hand cream and body butter like water during the winter, since I have very dry skin to begin with. The cold, harsh air absolutely tortures me, and I still have yet to find the ellusive “perfect” moisturizer. I’d sure love to try Ellovi next!

  • Reply sonja @ vesenmork 2013-12-19 at 3:24 am

I always use coconut oil as moisturizer, it is a bit oily but I love the scent and feeling so much. This product does sound very interesting as well though!

  • Reply Jessie 2013-12-19 at 10:00 am

Yummy! Winter is totally coming, and my hands can feel it. I slather them with lotion, but I’ll bet this butter is better. I’d love to try it! The lemon verbena scent sounds amazing, and I like the fact that the ingredients are so natural. What a fun giveaway!

    Hope you’re having a great week! :)

My skin is very sensitive so I’m extra careful, but this sounds like a great product! It took me a long time to find the cream that I’m using right now. This is a very generous gift! Need extra moisture for dry season. :) Good luck to your US readers!
