Dream Non-Dairy Yogurt Review

22nd October 2016

We’re very fortunate to have so many vegan yogurt options on the market now in the United States. The vegan yogurts sold in the US still differ considerably from those sold in Europe, but we’ve found a number of options that we really, truly enjoy. One of the brands we often use is Dream Non-Dairy Yogurt, better known as Almond Dream and Coconut Dream. Their smooth, creamy consistency and sweet, clean flavors make them ideal for using in sweet recipes that call for yogurt or enjoying on their own as a creamy, custardy snack. We personally think they’ve missed a trick though by not offering a plain unsweetened yogurt in their range of 10 varieties comprising 5 flavors of Almond Dream and 5 flavors of Coconut Dream.

Almond Dream Non-Dairy Yogurt Review

Almond Dream Non-Dairy Yogurt

Almond Dream non-dairy yogurts are available in five flavors – Plain, Vanilla, Coconut, Mixed Berry and Strawberry. Though the Almond Dream and Coconut Dream yogurts both contain the same amount of sugar, we found the Almond Dream to be discernibly sweeter. There’s a subtle nuttiness to the Almond Dream yogurts when you eat them on their own.

The plain yogurt was our favorite, followed by the lovely coconut variety which has a combination of almond and toasted coconut flavors. Of the two fruit flavors, we preferred the mixed berry for the medley of fruit flavors layered on top of the slight nuttiness. Strawberry was the most tart of all the flavors, so if that’s your thing then this one may just appeal to you. Almond Dream yogurts are especially well suited for using in recipes given their smooth consistency and noticeable sweetness.

Coconut Dream Non-Dairy Yogurt

Coconut Dream non-dairy yogurts are available in five flavors – Plain, Vanilla, Blueberry, Raspberry and Strawberry. Plain was, again, our favorite and the least sweet of all the varieties. The underlying natural coconut flavor makes Coconut Dream yogurts easily distinguishable from Almond Dream. We could almost go for more coconut flavor since there’s a certain appeal to having a tropical coconut custard profile.

Along with plain, we also enjoyed the vanilla flavor. Vanilla was the sweetest option of the five, with flecks of vanilla laced throughout providing flavor and a visible differentiation from the plain yogurt. The flavors in the vanilla yogurt were reminiscent of a good rice pudding and we imagine it would work perfectly in a homemade rice, chia or tapioca pudding. Of the three fruit flavors, the tart raspberry was our favorite followed by a more neutral Blueberry. The fruit varieties are not especially chunky, but still have clearly defined fruit flavors.
