★ ABOUT: “Brook Eddy, Founder & CEO of Bhakti Chai began brewing chai as a way to transport herself back to India – standing over the pot of steaming chai on herstove and inhaling the layers of fragrant spices – she was suddenly swept back into the chaos, colors, and vibrancy of India. When her homemade brew gained attention and addiction from her friends and neighbors, she decided to take the principles of Bhakti (Devotion Through Social Action) that she learned in India and build a company on this ideal. Socially responsible practices steeped in charitable contributions for social change became their mantra. 400,000 gallons of chai later – Bhakti Chai still committed to FRESH spicy chai, charitable donations, sustainable practices, organic ingredients and inspiring creations reminiscent of India.” (The Bhakti Story)

My Verdict for Bhakti Chai Quart:
Original

Bhakti Chai
Bhakti Chai Original with Unsweetened Coconut Milk

Bhakti Chai Original

This is Bhakti Chai’s signature Original blend of fresh ginger, milled spices and antioxidant rich black tea. When it comes to quart, mix 1 : 1 with your choice of vegan milk or soy. For myself, I usually add more vegan milk (2 : 1) than the chai, because some may not like the strong ginger flavour like myself. If you want a strong chai flavor, definitely do 1 : 1 or add more chai. The Original chai went well with the unsweetened coconut milk and ice, and it was a very pleasant summer chai beverage. The flavour was not too sweet, but with wintery spices. However, the sweetened vegan milk may be too sweet for the Original. I would recommend their “Unsweetened” Bhakti Chai for any sweetened vegan milk or you may add agave, nectar or stevia depending on how sweet you like. After couple of sips, the mild heat remains in the back of your throat. If you prefer sweeter tones, use more sweetened vegan milk or less chai.

My Verdict for Bhakti Chai Quart:
Coffee Blend

Bhakti Chai Coffee Blend
Bhakti Chai Coffee Blend with Coconut Milk on ice

This is Bhakti Chai’s signature Original blend, but with a splash of smooth cold-pressed organic coffee. The flavour has a mellow coffee flavour, but very ginger and wintery. What a beautiful coffee flavour, it is recommended to drink in the mornings or when you feel like you need a wake-up call.

My Verdict for Bhakti Chai Quart:
Unsweetened

This is Bhakti Chai’s signature Original blend but with no cane sugar added. You can use agave, nectar or stevia, or even sweetened vegan milk. Great for anyone who cannot have too much sugar in their beverages. However, the unsweetened Bhakti Chai is perfect for cooking or even baking. Imagine making vegan muffins with chai flavours or waffles with ginger-chai flavours.

My Verdict for Bhakti Chai Ready-To-Drink:
Original

We only found these Bhakti Chai ready-to-drink beverages in Original flavours in our location. However, these were great beverages to go for my road trips to Portland and Seattle. I tried them before I flew for SE Asia. You could taste the ginger from the Original, but the soy milk balances the strong ginger well. It is a very nice, icy chai tea to go, especially when you have no time to make your own chai, or on the road! I would absolutely love to see them at domestic airports since they don’t allow liquids due to TSA. I would love to see if they can incorporate coconut milk or any other vegan milks to be also a soy-free option as well.
