Product Review: Wayfare Butterscotch Pudding

9th August 2012

Ever tried a vegan butterscotch pudding product before? For me, nope, I never had a vegan butterscotch pudding in my life, but I had real butterscotch candies before I turned a vegan! I recalled snacking on butterscotch candies everyday as a kid. Based in Montana, Wayfare Foods makes three pudding flavours: Chocolate, Butterscotch and Vanilla. All are vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, non-GMO, and made of whole grains! I love seeing products that are soy-free because my stomach does not work well with soy.

Wayfare Butterscotch Pudding WOW, the pudding smelled like a butterscotch, a blend of rich butter and sweet brown sugar with hints of vanilla and cream. I was expecting it to look like a caramel colour, but the colour appeared to be orange. The whole grains gave the pudding a gritty texture that was enjoyable, yet still creamy. This butterscotch pudding looked like a great cake frosting or for sweet layers of cakes. The pudding goes well with cookie crumbs for more texture in parfaits and desserts. It is something I normally wouldn’t eat it alone.
