I would like to point out that the brand, Veggie Street is only available and known in Europe, however the brand is under “Viana” in the U.S. Most of the Viana sunflower spreads can be found online via VeganEssentials.com, Viva La Vegan in LA and Nooch Vegan Store in Denver. They are planning to distribute them this summer.
All Viana Sunflower Spreads & Pâtés are certified organic, non-GMO verified, vegan, and dairy-free. They both have one year shelf life. Nearly all the ingredients are organically grown. Viana is a sister German brand of Tofutown.com and Soyatoo! whipped creams.
Veggie Street is a brand in Europe and also known as Viana in the U.S. markets. Viana is a sister brand of Tofutown.com, offering a selection of plant-based spreads and pâtés. Founded in 1988 in Cologne, Viana is a traditional brand of the company Tofutown.com GmbH. Viana products use “wheat, soybeans and fresh organic vegetables into delicious meat alternatives, tofu products, soy and rice drinks and fine soy creams” (Viana Biography).
several sunflower spreads varieties: eggplant (aubergine), papaya curry, apple & horseradish, hot paprika, and wild herbs. Viana also carry creamy lentil & curry spread, onion shortening, and seasoned vegan butter alternative, which I have not tried yet.
For the pâtés, they have eight flavors since 2012: roasted tomato (Senza Una Donna), classic (Englishman in New York), red pepper & pickle (It’s Raining Men), masala curry (Song of India), orange chili (Woman), spicy tomato (Sexual Healing), mushroom (Father and Son), and Thai coconut (One Night in Bangkok). At this time, these pâtés are not available in the U.S. just yet.
where to buy
For online stores, look for “Viana” products at VeganEssentials.com. They can be seen anywhere at health food stores and supermarkets in Europe. They are also available at Viva La Vegan in LA and Nooch Vegan Store in Denver.
papaya curry creamy sunflower spread (gluten-free)
This is the best vegan creamy spread ever. It is also gluten-free, packed with curry flavor, and made only with organic and non-GMO ingredients. You can get them online here via VeganEssentials.com. I was a bit hesitant to try a fruity and savory spread, but I love the combination. The spread tastes a bit like German curry spread. It is not too strong, but sweet and savory. I can imagine using it as a base for salad, rice, sandwich, or vegan meat coating. But it works great with bread. It is not runny, it’s perfect as a creamy spread. I could taste the papaya very well. Kudos to this wonderful spread! There is also a Lentil Curry creamy spread.
sunflower oil, papaya purée (20%), sunflower seeds, water, lemon juice from concentrated lemon juice, apple purée, curry (contains mustard) (1%), fruit vinegar, concentrated apple juice, raw cane sugar, sea salt, spices.
Net Wt. 6.35 oz. (180g)
The Viana Pâtés are not available in the U.S., only in Europe. So creamy consistency and appearance. You could taste the tomatoes and some herbs. It is like a creamy tomato sauce, but a spread. It goes well with bread and raw veggie snacks, even a small pasta dish with some flavors. It wasn’t too acidic and it was well balanced. I could imagine using it as a spread on deli sandwiches. It’s not too runny or dense. It’s thick enough as a proper German spread. Great flavors and very unique pâté.
