Product Review: Simply Straws

To fight plastic pollution and bisphenol-A (BPA, found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins), Simply Straws handcrafts reusable, environmentally sustainable, durable, BPA-free drinking straw alternative to the common plastic straws. These glass straws are guaranteed unbreakable due to Borosiliate Glass, plus “they help minimize contact with the teeth and helps reduce the effects of acid on tooth enamel, while removing the harmful exposure to BPA that would be found in a ordinary plastic straw.” (Simply Straws, FAQ)

“More than 500 million disposable plastic straws are used in the United States every day[..]The only way to get rid of this toxic threat is to strive to not use plastic in your everyday life.” (Simply Straws, Plastic Facts)

Simply Straws

Simply Straws

I tried a 10″ dark green bent glass in 9mm (classic series) from Simply Straws Bent collection. I find the tall bent straw useful for any types of beer glasses, or regular tall glasses that hold 12 oz water. I am known for grinding my teeth or against any object, but this straw does not affect my teeth. I am surprised about the strength of the glass straw, whereas it wouldn’t break in the sink. I prefer coloured straws to go with any beverages. You will need Simply Straws brush to clean it. This is pretty awesome to have an already bent straw where I don’t have to tip my glass all the time.

The coloured bent collection comes in 9mm & 12mm diameters only in different lengths. “This is a straw intended for easy accessibility to your beverage without tipping your glass.” (Simply Straws)

Main ingredients include Quartz Sand (silica) and boron oxide. BPA-free, non-toxic colours, non-porous and hypo-allergenic, superior durability, helps minimize teeth sensitivty and erosion, reduces teeth staining, suitable for children and adults, both microwave and dishwasher-safe and handmade in the California.

Simply Straws

I tried a 8″ clear bent glass in 7mm (Skinny Series) from Simply Straws Bent collection. It was the skinniest straws I’ve tried so far. It can be deceiving at first as a clear plastic straw, but it is Simply Straws made of Borosilicate glass! I would not recommend it for smoothies or bubble teas. You will need a very special thin Simply Straws brush to clean the 7mm straw.

The clear bent collection comes in 7mm (Skinny), 9mm (Classic), and 12mm (Wide) in different lengths. “This is a straw intended for easy accessibility to your beverage without tipping your glass.” (Simply Straws)

Simply Straws

I tried a 8″ pink glass in 12mm (Wide Series) from the Simply Straws Colour collection. The 12mm diameter is wide, and approriate for smoothies, bubble teas or beverages that involve chunks such as tapioca pearls, fruits, etc. I find the straw easier to clean and there are Simply Straws brushes that clean 12mm straws, however I am uncertain I would use it for everyday beverage. The pink colour looks so pretty.

The pink straw comes in 9mm (Classic) or 12mm (Wide) diameters in different lengths (6″, 8″ and 10″).

BPA-free, non-toxic colours, non-porous and hypo-allergenic, superior durability, helps minimize teeth sensitivty and erosion, reduces teeth staining, suitable for children and adults, both microwave and dishwasher-safe and handmade in the California.
