Mexico City: The Green Corner Grocery

The Green Corner in the Condesa area, was probably one of the nicest 100% Mexican groceries I went to, but it was very far from my apartment in Zona Rosa, maybe about 45 minutes walk. The walk can be tolerable during the mornings, but this April, it can be really warm during the afternoon! The Green Corner has 4 stores (location: Coyoacán, Condesa, Polanco, Cuajimalpa) and 2 restaurants (location: Coyoacán and Condesa) in Mexico City. However, Condesa was the nearest area for me.
Location & Hours & Notes
- Mazatlán Num. 81 locales 1, 2, y 3 Esq. Fernando Montes de Oca, Col. Condesa. México
- Monday to Sunday 8am – 10pm
- Also runs a restaurant next door with a daily menu made with organic ingredients and a section for macrobiotic dishes. I will try the restaurant in the future. There are probably 2 – 4 vegan-friendly dishes I may try.
- It is partially vegan-friendly since it also sells organic meat & dairy products.
It was a small, unique organic grocery. You may find some vegan-friendly corn tortillas, tamales, salsa and tofu at reasonable prices. The grocery also sells interesting beverages and smoothies, mainly the Plantain-Orange smoothie I liked. I bought blue corn tortillas, mushroom/herb tamales and bean tamales as well as the Plantain-Orange smoothie! I haven’t spent much time there, but I’m really interested to see more of the other vegan-friendly products that I haven’t tried such as the chocolate tamales.
I apologize for the crappiest pictures. Did not feel like bringing my heavy camera all the way there. You know it!
