It was a beautiful July in Baltimore where we went to a Liverpool football match. When you are in Baltimore in such humid and hot weather, you will need a car. If you go during cooler weather, it is manageable to walk through downtown Baltimore. As much as I love comfort and soul food such as vegan Mac-n-Cheese, I couldn’t resist going to Baltimore’s The Land of Kush. I found out about this place through WTFVeganFood and looking at her food photos have convinced me to go!

Sweet & Sour Seitan (Wheat) with Candied Yams and Collard Greens
This was Doni’s dish. His two side dishes, the candied yams and collard greens were both gluten-free. The one entree and two side dishes was a daily special platter dish for $10.99 (as of July 2012). This was pretty filling, especially for a humid day out. You’ve got the tasty sweet & sour seitan (wheat-based) smothered in a sweet and tangy sauce, which was delish and of course Doni wanted something soy-free for his stomach, which was perfect. Plus the candied yams and collard greens made you feel like you had your wholesome veggies and hearty dishes whilst visiting Baltimore! They serve very large portions of foods, which was pretty hearty and delicious at the same time!
KUSH BBQ Ribs (soy) with Rice & Vegetable Medley and Candied Yams
This was Doni’s father dish, another daily platter. He chose the KUSH BBQ ribs, and two side dishes: Rice & Vegetable Medley and Candied Yams. The KUSH BBQ ribs in BBQ sauce contained soy, as the Sweet & Sour Seitan contains wheat. The Land of Kush makes very good seitan and soy ribs, smothered in saucy sauces. One word I can describe is fabulous. Everything that The Land of Kush makes tastes fabulous!
Baked Mac and Cheese (Soy) and Potato Salad
Guess whose dish was this?! Mine! Like I’d mentioned, I’m a massive fan of mac and cheese. Those were two small side dishes, and yes, they were big portions regardless! I immediately fell in love with The Land of Kush’s baked mac and cheese (contained soy). The vegan cheese was creamy and delectable with the wheat elbow noodles. The potato salad dressed in Veganise tasted fabulous! I love them all! That’s how I liked my mac-n-cheese and potato salad: creamy, delicious and tasty!
