Cambridge: Desserts at Veggie Galaxy
It was my second time to visit a vegan diner in Cambridge, MA: Veggie Galaxy. The first time I went there was in February, where I tried their vegan sandwiches, which I will include later this week. It is both vegetarian and vegan, but their delectable bakery is 100% vegan. Veggie Galaxy’s vegan bakery carries all sorts of pies, cakes, puddings, ice creams , sundaes, frappes and floats/sodas. They also make freshly baked vegan goods from cupcakes, muffins, cookies to brownies. One of the vegan pies that appealed to me was the “Mile High Lemon Meringue” and “Boston Cream Pie”, which was pretty neat to see something veganized.

- Address: 450 Massachussetts Avenue Cambridge, MA 02139. A block away from Le Méridien Cambridge-MIT, which I’d stayed at. Also within few minutes walking distance from Central “T” Stop.
- Hours: Mon – Thu: 7:00 am – 10:00 pm | Fri: 7:00 am - 11:00 pm | Sat: 9:00 am - 11:00 pm | Sun: 9:00 am – 10:00 pm. Note that their kitchen is closed from 3PM to 5PM everyday, while their bakery remains open.
- Vegan Notes: It is a 100% vegetarian & vegan eatery. You need to inquire which are VEGAN from the menu. There are many vegan options, always ask. However, their desserts are 100% vegan, so there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.

Vegan Mile High Lemon Meringue
It was a lucky day for me because I was planning to get myself a vegan lemon meringue. There were samples that day and it was my first time to taste it. I could taste the freshly squeezed lemon (so it was a bit tart in the beginning) and the creamy white foam. It tasted really good as a sample.

Vegan New York Style Cheesecake (Glazed Passion-fruit) with Strawberry Sauce ($5.25 per slice, add $0.75 for strawberry or blueberry sauce)
Since I tried the vegan lemon meringue sample, I wanted to try a vegan cheesecake in Boston. All vegan cheesecakes I’ve tried elsewhere were different: thick, heavy, tofu-based, cream cheese, raw, gluten-free, and so forth. So I had it and I was glad I didn’t taste the tofu at all. The glazed passion fruit topping on the cheesecake was a bit tart, but it was still good since I love passion fruits.

Vegan Dad’s Shake (Strawberry & Chocolate) $5.50
We were served a glass of Vegan Dad’s shake and a second fountain-style metal cup of ice cream. We use the ice cream to make the shake thick and colder. It tasted very chocolatey with a hint of strawberry, but very creamy and chilly. It was a good vegan frappe for sure, and it felt like having 2 servings of creamy chocolate-strawberry frappe! It’s a great summer beverage especially on a warm day in Cambridge, MA!
