Portland: Back to Eden Bakery Boutique
I went to NE Portland’s vegan and organic Back to Eden Bakery Boutique in September 2011. It was a very cute and boutique-like bakery that serves vegan desserts, pastries, non-dairy shakes/sundaes, daily soups, sandwiches and fair-trade coffee. I did not bring my professional camera with me that day, so I sort of regretted for not taking too many pictures.

Strawberry Almond Cheesecake (GF, Gluten-Free): $4.50 each
I never had an almond-based cheesecake before, but it was worth to try it as Gluten-Free. I have been a massive fan of vegan (and Gluten-free) cheesecakes whenever I see one. Before I was a vegan, cheesecakes were one of my guilty pleasures, but finding the right veganized cheesecake was challenging! I do recall that I only finished it halfway because it was really filling and dense. I realized I did not need that much, but in the end, shared the piece with my partner and his father. It was a good finish indeed!

Hot Cocoa with Coconut Milk
I don’t remember how much I got it for since it was nearly 8 months ago, yikes. But I liked the hot beverage very much: the warm, cozy vegan hot chocolate with some coconut milk. Perfect beverage for a chilly day in Portland!

Marionberry Coconut Cream Pie – $4 per slice
This is my first time to try a vegan coconut cream pie! That dessert in the refrigerated glass display case caught my eyes completely: the absolute pink filling and the foamy white coconut cream on the top. That was kind of a sexy dessert for sure! That one was probably my favourite and unique dessert at Back to Eden Bakery, but I couldn’t finish it halfway (had to finish it with other two people). It was indeed a big slice to taste! I also liked the crust part, which was really good. I have to admit that the Marionberry coconut cream pie tasted better than the GF cheesecake I tried.
