Portland: Meeting Veggietorials + Blossoming Lotus

The next day after my fabulous birthday dinner in Portland, we met up with the lovely food blogger Cobi in NE side of Portland at Blossoming Lotus. Cobi hosts a plant-based blog Veggietorials and she makes beautiful videos on YouTube about product reviews, cooking, travel and eating well. What an inspirational woman, We are thankful to have met her especially her father, who is a very funny guy!

We dined there on a weekday during their lunch time hours (11:00 am – 4:00 pm). They have a lunch menu. I have been to Blossoming Lotus a few times and I prefer their Sunday brunch specialities, which are pretty tasty, i.e., their Biscuit & Gravy or Grits & Greens.

My meal: Live Nachos (live/raw, gluten-free and soy-free)
I had Live Nachos couple of years ago, when they had two Blossoming Lotus locations. You can view my older posts on Blossoming Lotus here. The Live Nachos is all live/raw (mostly raw, but contain minimal amounts of ingredents that may have been cooked or heated at some point), gluten-free and soy-free. Perfect for anyone who has plant-based food allergens. We enjoyed the Live Nachos: spicy live chips, topped with zucchini-tahini nacho cheese, pecan chorizo, avocado dressing, cashew sour cream, red onion, tomato, green onion, and cilantro. The staff was accommodating to separate avocado dressing and avocado aside.

The Pie of the Day: Peach + Ginger
The Peach + Ginger pies were on display for the day. Coincidentally, Doni and Cobi’s father ordered the same pie slices since they had a meal earlier. Doni loved the pie, but did not taste the ginger very well. Next time, we will try their pastries and/or cookies on display.

Cobi’s Meal: Marinated Kale (live/raw, gluten-free, soy-free)
Cobi’s Marinated Kale consists of mango, strawberry, pumpkin seeds, and blueberry-chia vinaigrette (omitting the avocado). It was a pretty tasty and fruity kale salad. Personally I like my kale salads savory. :) I never had a kale salad with mango and strawberry before. She also ordered a green smoothie.
