LVX Winter Resort and Spring 2015

12th June 2015

We recently returned to Oregon after an interesting couple of months in Cape Town and Portugal. The laid-back atmosphere and warm and sunny weather of Cape Town paired perfectly with the sensational LVX Spring 2015 collection. I really enjoyed the balance and variety of this collection and loved the addition of a few metallic colors. As well as the the Spring 2015 collection, I’m also reviewing the more neutral and versatile Winter Resort 2015 collection that was released earlier this year.

To celebrate one of my favorite collections from LVX, I’m holding a giveaway! One lucky Vegan Miam reader will win six (6) nail polishes randomly selected from the Spring 2015 and Winter Resort 2015 collections. Along with the Spring 2015 and Winter Resort 2015 collections, LVX recently released their Summer 2015 collection. All three are currently available at

LVX Winter Resort and Spring 2015

the verdict

The theme of the Winter Resort 2015 collection appears to be neutral, versatile and sophisticated colors. Eiffel is the most eye-catching of the lot, with rich bronze tones and a fine metallic pop. Crimson is reminiscent of the current Pantone Color of the Year, Marsala; It’s a warm, robust red.

The Spring 2015 collection is one of my all time favorite collections. There are three metallic colors and three vibrant colors in this collection. Haze is the exception in this bunch, with a more muted and versatile tone. This collection is perfect for Spring and Summer but also has a few year-round colors. This collection worked wonderfully in breezy Cape Town for the end of their warm, summery season and will continue to deliver some added pop for the summer months ahead.

All twelve colors from the Winter Resort 2015 and Spring 2015 collections have a smooth, high-shine finish and consistently lasted me around 4-6 days. I recommend using a base coat and I really like the LVX ‘3 in 1 Treatment’ in conjunction with the LVX ‘Gel Top Coat’ to produce the perfect high gloss finish with a fuller appearance.

My favorites from these two collections are Eiffel, Crimson and Denim from the Winter Resort 2015 collection and Turkoise, Voyage and Camo from the Spring 2015 collection. Which colors do you like from these two collections?

LVX Winter Resort 2015

A nice, soft muted baby pink with a creamy finish. Not super shiny so it has a more mellow vibe. Thick coat on application, but I went ahead and applied two coats.

Another muted, neutral color. Mineral has hues of a creamy dove grey combined with a faded a blue pastel. The same consistency and easy application as Femme. I used one coat.

Rich, glossy, aubergine color. Additional coats will result in a darker, richer color. I used two coats. I don’t wear a lot of purple so this wasn’t my favorite color but it would make a fine multi-season nail polish for anyone who loves robust purples. Requires base coat.

This is a refined creamy royal blue. A very versatile and transitional blue. Easier to apply than the first three colors. One coat was perfect. Requires a base coat.

Crimson is another refined tone from the Winter Resort 2015 collection. This deep red is reminiscent of a cricket ball or a vintage red wine. It’s almost marsala red (Pantone Color of the Year 2015). It took two coats to achieve that slight brick color. One of the more difficult polishes to remove, I also noticed it stained a few pages in my cookbooks while I was wearing it. I love this sexy and sophisticated red though. Requires base coat.

My favorite color from this collection. I wore this on my trip to Philadelphia earlier this year and received compliments and inquiries about this color. It’s an eye-catching metallic bronze polish that was easy to apply. I used two coats. Requires base coat.

My absolute favorite from this collection. It’s a pastel turquoise color that applies thick. One coat may be enough but I applied two coats for a fuller look. A beautiful accent color, photographed in the Bo-Kaap, Cape Town.

Voyage is a light purplish-pink color bordering on bubble gum pink at times. Similar consistency to Turkoise, but with slightly easier application. I recommend two coats. Photographed at Muizenberg Beach.

A very cool lavender hued grey. I shy away from purple tones but I really like this muted greyish nail polish. Slightly metallic and applies thick. One coat was sufficient. Shot in the Bo-Kaap.

Stunning, glossy black with shimmering metallic flecks. Versatile yet vivacious color. This nail polish was a bit thin so application was difficult and required several coats to get full coverage. Shot in the Bo-Kaap.

Iridescent greenish-copper color. Mixed metallic appearance has a nice shimmer and broad range of colors depending on the light. Similar consistency to Voyage and Turkoise and noticeably easier to apply than Noir. One coat is thick, but I applied two coats for good measure. Another favorite of mine for its unique appearance. Shot in the Bo-Kaap.

A sparkling cherry red with purple metallic accents that provide a bit of shimmer and pop. Very bright and outgoing but not a color for me . Same consistency as Noir, so it was thinner and required several coats to achieve full and even coverage. Shot in the Bo-Kaap.
